Russian Punchneedle

This technique originated in Russia, an old needle art which has become very popular because of its simplicity, beauty, and portability. It’s also referred to as “miniature rugs”. Join Sharon to make “Soft Perch”.  He’s an adorable sheep sitting amongst lupines and guess what, “He’s the perch!”

 

 

Pillowcases for Kids

Petite Runners

A petite runner is a great size and shape for lots of uses: hang it between two doorways; place it on a coffee table or book case, or drape it over a little quilt rack. We’ll be making two petite runners in this workshop; one with blocks in a straight set, and one set on the diagonal. Intermediate level

Beginner Quilting

Come begin your quilt journey with Alice and learn all about the tools, supplies and techniques needed to stitch a patchwork sampler quilt. The coolest thing to move fabric out of your stash. With just a frame and strips of fabric you can make old fashioned “Rag Rugs”.  They are beautiful, washable and very durable. Come see the rugs we have made and you’ll definitely want to use up some of that stash from your closet!  If you think you might want a frame, please let us know in advance as these are hand-made and we need a little extra notice.

Spring/Fall Flowers Embroidery Mini Quilt

Nifty Nines

This versatile geometric block is probably the most under-appreciated little gem in the quilt world! We’ll make tiny nine-patches, set them on point, and let them shine! A review of “Twenty Tips for Tiny Quilts” will get participants thinking small, and then we’ll utilize those tips to sew many little nine-patch blocks for this darling quilt. This project looks great when it’s “Scrappy” or coordinated.

Quilt Appraisals

Ever wonder what your quilt is worth? Make an appointment or stop by and see Bonnie Dwyer, AQS-Certified Quilt Appraiser. She does appraisals on both new and antique quilts. Antique quilts became an interest to her in the 1990’s. Once bitten by the vintage quilt bug, Bonnie embarked on a more serious study of fabrics and quilts, earning national certification as an appraiser in 2006. Bonnie also has done appraisals at the Maine Quilt Show.

 

String Quilt

Here’s a chance to use up those scraps you have been saving.  With this technique, your quilt will be completely quilted when you are finished – no need to struggle over machine quilting a large quilt.  You can make this quilt as small or as large as you like. This is one of our most popular classes so sign up early.

Crazy Shortcut Quilt

Go Crazy Without Going Crazy! Crazy Short cut Quilts teaches you a simple quilt-as-you-go technique for creating your own crazy quilts in hours instead of months. You’ll learn how to combine layers of a quilt, in small, manageable sections, which requires virtually no precise measuring or cutting and you’ll get to use those decorative stitches on your machine.

Promise Stitch

This project features the log cabin block and is hand-pieced using a stitch called the “Promise Stitch”. Three promises that are taught when learning the stitch are: never use a machine to stitch, always sew the double stitch and share your knowledge and fabrics with others.

Freestyle Machine Appliqué

We are pleased to have Susan Bosch from SC Designs teach free style machine appliqué. In this class we will take a quilt block using the fusible appliqué method and explore the many options there are to complete the block. We will work with free motion quilting, satin stitch and other stitch variation. This is an intermediate level class. Class fee includes kit.  

Pizza Night Dates:

Join us for lots of fun on PMS night (pizza, munchies and sewing)! We share, laugh and sew from 6:00-10:00PM. Pizza, drinks and a special dessert will be provided (15.00 per person, advance sign-up required). You can work on whatever project you would like, machine or hand.

The last weekend days of each month are "finish a bolt and receive 20% off days". It's great for you and great for us:  you can add to your stash and we get more room for new fabrics!

Class Policy: Classes will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Class must be paid for in advance to secure your seat in class. You may register in person or by phone but payment must be received within one week or the spot will be given to someone else. At time of registration, a supply list will be provided (if applicable). If the class you are coming to is a machine class, please be sure your machine is in good working order. Classes start promptly at the given time. Please think of your teacher and other students, and if you are going to be late, please call and let us know.  Classes are non-refundable unless we do not have our minimum for each particular class.  Please check your calendar before signing up!
